American Military Struck a 'Large Complex' in Venezuela, President Trump Asserted Without Providing Specifics.

Ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that US forces hit a "major installation" in Venezuela recently. But, the ex-leader withheld information about the exact nature or site of the target, and officials have issued no additional comment from his camp.

Unspecific Comments Made During a Talk Show

"We just eliminated – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a large facility, where the ships come from. Recently, we took it out. So we hit them very hard," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Implications of a Verified Attack

If a American military action were to be confirmed, it would represent the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon began a expansion of American military presence in the region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration alleges operate under the orders of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This initial mission of the force deployment has evolved into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Social Media Video and Administration Statements

Trump has for some time warned that American military units are prepared to escalate the military campaign by hitting targets within Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require legislative authorization.

Online video posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an explosion reportedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. However, the video or the facility has not been independently verified.

An administration official reportedly informed a news network that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Situation

The Caracas administration has not commented on the alleged strike Trump described. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The presence of US military in the area – a stance certain officials have termed a sea blockade – constitutes the broadest naval operation of his time in office.

Sources have avoided from describing the operation as a blockade, but have acknowledged that around 15,000 personnel are deployed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to enforce current economic sanctions.
